The Prouts Neck Historical Society is seeking interested candidates for a summer internship at Prouts Neck. The most important qualities required are a keen interest in history, strong computer skills and a willingness to help older people with online history research and explanation of simple technology tools such as scanners and digital cameras.

You will work directly with Phil von Stade and other members to conduct research and digitization of images, documents and other media. You will provide hands-on help
and training to a wide variety of people, mostly ’seniors’. This will involve scanners, digital cameras, iPhone and a variety of software used to edit media and share it, including family- tree and genealogy research tools.

While we do not expect candidates to be experts, we would prefer those that have experience with some of the following:
– Apple, PC, mobile devices
– Scanning
– Basic Photo editing
– Video editing
– Audio editing
– Ancestry.com, or genealogy programs – Spreadsheets
– Powerpoint or Keynote Presentation software
– Social Media (Facebook, Instagram)
– WordPress or other Content Managment Systems

Location: Charles Thomas Memorial Library, Prouts Neck, other locations in Scarborough, Prouts Neck and from home.
Education Level: This is a college-level position, but exceptional juniors or seniors in high- school may apply.

Dates: Flexible, but within June-September, minimum 2 month commitment.
Hours: Flexible, but regular hours at the Library will be established.
Stipend: This is a paid part-time internship, based on acceptable levels of performance, at a rate of $1,000 per month.
