Bob Jordan’s father James Coffin Jordan owned Star Match. The factory building is on West Commercial Street and still standing. There is a large blue star on the chimney. A number of small business occupy the building. It must have been bought out at some point by Diamond Match.

James Jordan owned Stratton Island, on which he had a farm house, all the land from Marion Jordan Road to Higgins Beach including Piper Shores. He had a large mansion on Marion Jordan Road. Rev Cole wound up with a portion of that estate including a big barn that is still there. James also owned the West Point Hotel, at PN, a home on Danforth Street in Portland and tracts of woodland that wood came from for his match business. He had three children: Robert, Stephen and Marion for whom the road is named after. Stephen died fairly young.
